Stop Hate UK's response to the Manchester synagogue attacks
We are deeply shocked and disturbed by the horrific attack at the Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester this morning. This act of hatred and violence — committed on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar — strikes at the heart of our values as a society committed to respect, dignity, and safety for all. We mourn with the families of the victims, and our thoughts are with those injured and all those shaken by this atrocity. We stand in solidarity with all communities threatened by intolerance, bigotry, and violence.
We recognise this will have a deep impact on Jewish communities across the country and outside the UK, but particularly to the relatives and friends of the people who have lost their lives in this senseless and violent act.
We call on public authorities to take every measure necessary to ensure the safety of places of worship and vulnerable communities. Hate has no place in our society.
At Stop Hate UK we believe that individually and collectively we can all play a part, as much as we are able, and while being mindful of our own safety and security, in challenging harmful and hateful narratives, behaviours and actions.
We pledge to continue our work to challenge antisemitism and all forms of hatred, to support affected communities, and to reaffirm our collective commitment to pluralism, inclusion, and mutual respect.
