New Stop Hate UK Youth Projects in Leeds

Young people’s consultation project:

A twelve month project led by Stop Hate UK and funded by The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (Racial Justice programme) is underway across Leeds.

Young people from the city’s diverse communities will be able to get involved in work about:

  • cohesion issues in their community
  • identity and community
  • conflict and personal safety

These consultations will lead to resources for young people, and a report showing young people’s thoughts and feelings that will be disseminated at a launch event in early 2009.

It is hoped that the project will receive additional funding to implement the recommendations generated by the first phase of the project.

South Leeds Community Cohesion project:

Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP) have funded a twelve month project working in South Leeds. It will be delivered in partnership with St Luke’s Cares, and will work with young people who are faced with the serious consequences that follow Hate Crime and conflict.
