Reporting
Hate Incident is any incident that the victim or any other person believes has been motivated by hatred of race, religion, disability or sexual orientation.
Hate Incidents can be reported directly to the Police, to the Stop Hate Line or at a Hate Incident Reporting Centre (HIRC).
The Stop Hate Line
If you are being affected by hate crime, call the Stop Hate Line on 0800 138 1625 and talk to someone at any time of day or night.
The Stop Hate Line can take reports of hate incidents and provide information on what help is available for you in your local area. It is available for people living anywhere in the UK.
Hate crime is unacceptable – and it is illegal. It can take may forms including verbal or physical abuse, damage to property, arson, graffiti and even murder.
The Stop Hate Line provides a confidential 24-hour alternative to reporting directly to the police. You can talk about your experience to a trained operator, who can provide information about services and possible courses of action–or simply listen. Information will only be passed on to the police and relevant support agencies with your consent.
Even if you’re not the victim, you can still call the Stop Hate Line to talk about incidents you have witnessed.
Hate Incident Reporting Centres (HIRC)
There are over 80 Hate Incident Reporting Centres in Leeds. Please use the drop down menus to find a HIRC by name or by district. You can visit a HIRC to report any Hate Incident you have experienced or witnessed. The information you provide is confidential, and will only be shared with the police or support agencies
